I started The Dental Writers Academy with the sole purpose of coaching and mentoring the next generation of aspiring dental authors.

WHAT'S IN IT FOR YOU?
Six Solid Reasons to Enroll in The Dental Writers Academy
1) 3-MONTHS of PERSONAL COACHING FOR ASPIRING DENTAL WRITERS
Dentistry is a niche industry and a healthcare specialty.
Now more than ever, dentistry needs a new generation of qualified industry experts with solid writing skills.
The Dental Writers Academy is a 3-month crash course. Coaching consists of private, one-on-one mentoring sessions with an award-winning dental author and accomplished marketing consultant (That's Me!) to ensure optimal virtual mentoring.
Starting in January, 2021, you can begin whenever you're ready. But I only accept a limited amount of students at a time!
2) DEVELOP YOUR PERSONAL BRAND!
What are the unique qualities that will define your personal brand and develop your author's voice? Your answer should be based on the following:
Professional & Life Experience
Point of View / Philosophy
Think of the dental KOLs that you know and what their personal branding slogans are. Let's work on yours!
3) BEAT WRITER'S BLOCK!
Look familiar? It's the dreaded white screen of death. The one thing that strikes fear in the hearts of novice and veteran dental writers alike.
There are ways to ensure that you can find a topic to write about and build a robust pipeline of articles.
I'll share my thought-starter ideas so you too can defeat the white screen of death.
We'll also brainstorm during our weekly one-on-one mentoring sessions.
4) WRITE MORE GOODER!
Writing well is more than basic grammar. It's also matter of style.
Style is what makes one thesaurus option better than another. It's also what makes writing more personal, conversational and engaging.
You and I will discuss the elements of writing style as well as grammar and proper use of references throughout my 4-month mentoring program.
5) WEEKLY VIRTUAL MENTORING
Once you enroll in the Dental Writers Academy, you'll gain weekly video coaching access to yours truly.
In between our weekly sessions, I am accessible via email or text messaging if you are at a sticking point or want to discuss an idea that just popped into your head!
6) GET PUBLISHED!
This is the end game: Strive to get your stuff published in print and/or online. But first, you'll need to know how to do the following things:
Target the Right Publication
Work With Editors
Use Editorial Calendars
Work With Manufacturers
Pitch Your Article
Now that you've worked so hard writing your article, let's strive to get it published.
Although article acceptance is not guaranteed, you will greatly increase your chances with my personal submission of your first article to my editorial contacts.

Once the afterglow of seeing your article published has faded, you may ask yourself if there is any way to keep it top of mind.
Fortunately, you can and our final session will explain how to keep the ball in play when it comes to your labor of love: For example:

Michael Ventriello knows writing, period. If you are thinking about improving your writing skills to add to your professional and personal success, call or email him right now!
Because my training is in writing for scientific publications, I used to find it hard to write to other audiences. Utilizing skill, humor, and tact, he has guided me on the best way to target key messages, by tailoring them to different audiences. These audiences have been within and outside of the dental profession about my favorite topic-dentistry!
I not only feel more confident, it has been so much fun that I didn't realize until I looked back on some of our past collaborations as to how much I have learned from him.
If you are ready to add writing to your success goals this year, Mike is the person you want for a coach, mentor, and message creator.
Julia Heinrichs, DDS
Working with Michael has been a key point in my entire dental career. He masters writing, he knows almost everyone in the industry, and he’s a caring mentor as well.
Michael’s ahead of curve by knowing the latest trends in dentistry, thus staying pertinent to new topics. He’s an incredible editor who doesn’t change your voice or point of view, he simply brings out the best in what you have to offer.
It is rare to learn from someone of his caliber, so I highly recommend working with Michael if provided the opportunity!
Debra Zafiropoulos, RDH

In the era of increased PPE, building connections with patients can present real challenges. Marketing expert Michael Ventriello shares a few updates practices can make to add a personal touch to patient communications.
Today, COVID-19 continues to impact key communities. In the spring, the novel coronavirus hit everyone hard, closing dental offices, except for emergencies, for several months. We thought that would be over by now. It's not.
In the holiday movie classic “Miracle on 34th Street,” the Macy’s Santa finds himself at the center of controversy when he “redirects” shoppers to competing department stores whenever Macy’s was out of stock of the children’s toy they are frantically searching for.
By doing this, he was ignoring specific instructions from the Macy’s toy department manager to convince shoppers to buy something else…in Macy’s of course! Before he could (gasp!) fire Santa, a redirected shopper tells him she was very impressed by this Santa’s act of goodwill and that she would forever be a loyal Macy’s shopper...
According to dental marketing guru Fred Joyal, your patients should not only know why you invested in the technology but, most importantly, how they will benefit from it. The same holds true for your teledentistry purchase. To derive an optimal return on your investment, you need to fully explore the patient benefits and the marketing advantages of this rapidly growing technology...
Teledentistry at one time may have been thought of as exclusively a public health service. However, as the technology has evolved and the costs involved lowered, the opportunity for this service to add to your practice's revenue has grown. Part 1 of this series by Michael Ventriello focused on why your practice should embrace teledentistry. The second part focuses on how to promote the benefits that matter to your current and prospective patients...
As we wind down another Oral Cancer Awareness Month, the dental industry is confronted with statistics that indicate a rise in oral cancers, which include those of the oral cavity and the oropharynx. Why is this?
Like most independent business owners, the average dentist typically assumes the responsibility for his or her own marketing. But is this a good thing? The answer can often be summed up by paraphrasing Clint Eastwood's Dirty Harry character. “A dentist's got to know his or her limitations.”
Michael Ventriello, owner of Ventriello Communications and an experienced voice in dental public relations, examines the need for more communication and collaboration around periodontal disease. Dentists and hygienists need to have difficult conversations with their patients and also work to bridge the dentist-physician communication gap, he writes...
In my humble layperson’s opinion (IMHLPO), one of the responsibilities of dental professionals is to inform their patients of the many oral-systemic health links and to reinforce the fact that the health of their mouths often determines their overall health...
Many of the products you might see at a dental meeting could be used to improve patient care or practice efficiency. But how often have you been brushed off by a dentist when you try to share what you learned? With a little planning, you can make a powerful business and clinical argument for incorporating new products into your practice...
Michael Ventriello, owner of Ventriello Communications and an experienced voice in dental public relations, explains why he "fired" his dentist over the lack of oral cancer screening.
